Master Chris Wheaton

Master Chris Wheaton is the founder and head instructor of Wheaton’s Martial Arts, bringing over 35 years of experience in Taekwondo, leadership, and coaching to the Pacific Northwest martial arts community. His journey began in 1988 under Grandmaster Robert Nichols at White Crane Martial Arts, followed by years of dedicated training with Grandmaster Tae S. Lee at Lee’s Martial Arts Academy. Over the decades, he has built a reputation for technical mastery, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to the values of discipline, respect, and perseverance that define martial arts excellence.

A decorated competitor, Master Wheaton has earned gold and silver medals at premier tournaments including the USA Taekwondo Nationals, AAU Pacific Northwest Championships, and the Washington Open. He has competed at the U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships and the US Masters Cup, where his consistency and dedication have set him apart as both an athlete and leader. His competitive success continues to inspire the next generation of martial artists who train under his guidance.

As both a Master Instructor and Coach, Chris has dedicated his life to shaping students into confident, disciplined, and capable individuals both on and off the mat. Since opening Wheaton’s Martial Arts Academy in 2017, he has grown the school into one of the region’s most respected dojangs, home to over 120 students of all ages and skill levels. His vision extends beyond competition; it is about building a community where families grow stronger together and students develop character as much as skill. For Master Wheaton, martial arts is not just a practice; it is a lifelong mission to empower others through integrity, perseverance, and heart.
