Head Instructor Thi-Son Wheaton

Head Instructor Thi-Son Wheaton brings over a decade of competitive excellence, leadership, and passion to the Wheaton’s Martial Arts community. A lifelong martial artist, Thi Son earned his First Degree Black Belt in 2012 at just ten years old and captured gold at the 2013 National Taekwondo Championships. Over the years, he has continued to compete and achieve at the highest levels, earning multiple Kukkiwon certifications and his Second Degree Black Belt in 2021. In 2025, his dedication was recognized with acceptance into Washington United Taekwondo as both a player and coach, an honor that speaks to his skill, discipline, and commitment to growth.
Training alongside his father has been one of Thi Son’s greatest privileges, and together they have built a legacy centered around family, respect, and excellence. He views teaching not just as instruction but as an opportunity to inspire confidence, perseverance, and self belief in every student who walks through the door.
As Head Instructor and Head Coach of the WMA Taekwondo and Fight Team programs, Thi Son is known for his energetic, hands on teaching style and his ability to bring out the best in his students. Whether he is guiding a young beginner or preparing a competitor for their next big tournament, his passion for the art and his community shines through. He specializes in a range of disciplines including Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Boxing, and Self Defense, helping students of all ages build skill, confidence, and character both on and off the mat.
